When asking for assistance....

Please be sure to include the machine make, model, and control being used.  EX: Makino A61 with Fanuc 31i

There have been several posts in the past where some, if not all of this information is left out.  It will help speed up the response time in answering questions by providing all of these things.

Light intensity control using analog dc 0-6V

Hi,

Currently I have a CMM machine controlled by a software. This software can also allow the computer to communicate with a external light controller device. Since I'd like to make the external light controller myself, I'd like to seek for advice on how to built this device. Please refer to the details shown below:

1) LIGHT SIGNAL OUTPUT FROM THE COMPUTER-
It consist of 2 signals to the external light controller. These 2 signals are: 0vdc-6vdc analog signal and ground. The value of 0vdc-6vdc analog signal can by varied (controled using the software) so as to control the light intensity.

2) EXTERNAL LIGHT-
I have a LED lighthing that can operate at 3.6V and draws a 0.36A of current. I have a power supply that can provide 12V for this LED lighthing (i'm aware that a resistor is needed to limit the current).

3) INTERFACING BETWEEN THE COMPUTER AND THE EXTERNAL LED LIGHTHING-
The software suppose to varie the value of the light signal between 0vdc-6vdc, in order to control the intensity of the LED lightning.

CONCLUSIONS:
If I were to build a light controller based on the above information. what will be the suitable component used for this device? Will it be transistor, op-amp, dc-dc convertor, or others? Please indicate the model and name of the component/s that you have suggested if possible.

Please advice. Thank you.

Best Regards,
caedrean

Mazak ladder editing

Hi all,

I would like to edit the ladder on a Mazak Integrex 3rd serie machine with MTPro control, to do some minor changes (of course under my own responsability), as I did through the years on my Fanuc based machines.
Does anyone know the way to do it right at the machine through the resident M62monitor program ? Or: which program to do it on PC ?

Many many thanks in advance to everybody will help me.

fanuc 21i-mb

Not sure if this is the correct forum for this question but here goes anyways!

Our company just purchased several used Fuji (Japan) lathes (TN) and mills (HM-34T).
These machines were set up to be semi automated in the loading process for an automotive OEM.
Consequently they are quite specialized and are not suitable for us to use "as is".  Among other things we need to change some of  the settings such as the chuck being open on cycle start request.
The settings page appears to be password protected so I can't toggle any of the settings.

We also need to remove/disable the automation interlocks.
We have all the original documentation on these machines, we own Fanuc Ladder III program and are able to down/upload ladder to these machines.

I am looking for advice on how to obtain the password and/or a company or person who knows these controls well who can come in and give us a hand with the ladder logic.

Thanks

Rick

inductosyn interface

On a CNC machining centre we would like to replace the existing DC servo drives and CNC system, by Sinumerik 840D CNC and 1FT6 servo drives. The existing position feedback is from linear inductosyns.
Is it possible to interface same with 840D  ? Please give details .Also please recommend whether to retain indutosyn or replace by new linear scales with 1Vpp output.

Interface to Fanuc 21iTB with WinXP

Hi All,

I used to connect to our 21iTB regularly with my laptop running with W2K.  Now that our IT department has switched us to XP I have never been able to connect. I follow basically the same procedure and turn off my firewalls. I also have administrator rights so there is no problem there. I connect via landline to my home DSL and also to my PDA with active sync.

I sure could use some suggestions for connecting.  I am open to any and all help.

Mazak ladder editing

Hi all. I'm new to this forum. Hope to get some help from you gurus...
I've done several little mods to Fanuc ladders, but now I need to edit the ladder of a Mazak Integrex lathe, with Mitsubishi NC unit model FCU6-MA651.
I think I should be able to edit it at the machine through the resident "M62MONITOR" program, but I just can't find the secret door that hid the editing menu.
Any tips ?

3 axis circular interpolation

Hi, I am just starting to learn about motion control. I want to make a cnc machine hooked on a pc. I already have the cad/cam package. Now, I would like to connect the pc to the machine via rj45, that is possible isn't it? and the cat5 goes hooked on the controller chip straight from the pc right? Is it a cable with an rj45 and one DB9 on each end? Which controller would be good for cutting paths with complex shapes? I went in galil's website, those accelera ones for 3 axis look good. And from the controller do the wires go straight to the servodriver? Is that basically it? And does any controller should work with any servodriver/servomotor? Thanks for this great website, sorry for the small knowhow.

Fanuc Ladder passwords

Does anyone know how to figure out how to determine what the password is to open fanuc ladders?? I heard of a few people using a hexeditor of some sort to figure it out. I have one of the new Robodrills with the 30I control. The control seems to also have changed in that it now has PMC1 and PMC2. Any help or understanding of this new format is greatly appreciated.

Through spindle coolant conversion

I have a Makino V55 (2001 model year) that I want to add through spindle coolant.  I am told that I may have to replace the spindle because the through spindle coolant model has a differnet spindle.  It seems weird to me for a company to make two different spindles, when one could easily do both.

Also, another option I was told was that their are tool holders that are capable of offering through spinidle coolant.  There is a collar around the tool holder,  that a line attached to the side of the machine plugs into when the tool is placed in the spindle.

Does anybody know anything about Makino's through spindle coolant system?  Has anybody had any experience with these tool holder that I refer to above?

Any info would help.

Thanks, Jon
