matchmaker minimill 610 with Fanuc o i mate controls cycle start prob

Hello I am new to this forum so please bear with me . I am an experienced machine tool fitter (cnc conversant)who has taken early retirement & have recently started a new part time job instructing 16 to 18 yr olds in basic engineering skills. In my place of work there is "white elephant" machine tool which was bought new in 2005 but has been abused somewhat.
It is a Matchmaker Minimill 610 with Fanuc oi mate controller & so far I can reference the axes & toolchanger in manual mode ok. There are a couple of programmes in the memory but they will not run when I press cycle start pushbutton. In MDI ,enter small programme, same problem push cycle start & nothing happens .
I have looked in the manuals but as yet no further progress
any suggestions appreciated
regards

Blohm Profimat with Allen Bradley 9/240 Control

This machine likes to hang up on its dressing cycle with coolant still on.  The grinding wheel comes down to dress on the diamond roll, then when it is finished with its dress and the wheel raises, that is where the machine just locks up with no alarms or anything indicating an error. I am not familiar with this old A-B control and am thinking it is in the programming somewhere. Since I removed a paramacro call of G65P994, the program no longer hangs up. All P994 does is move the table to the loading position so the we can load another part.

This is the main program with description of lines:

#500=58  (position of the pocket)
G65P9302C2D0F12I1.2J.250K1.2R2.0S105U0X0Y-.225Z.000  (Cuts the Part)
G65P901A90D.002E07M0R2S70U1V1    (Dresses the Wheel)
M9 (Coolant Off - this seems redundant since its in P901)
G65P994   (Return to load Position)
M30  (End)

Here is P901, the line on the display that it seems to hang on is IF[#1000NE0]GOTO99

I have been researching this for a while and reading all of the manuals for this control with no luck of an answer. The biggest thing is that there is no alarm, the program just halts and the machine just sits there. If anyone is familiar with this control and knows anything about my problem, I would be grateful if you shared some insight.

Nakamura TOME4 Help!

Hey guys, I need some help on a Nakamura TMC Tome4 CNC.

I used MasterCam to load a program on the machines memory. I know the machine has it in its memory becuase I can view each block on the screen.

Now comes the problem. The machine will not turn or start!!

I try to load the program from memory and hit the "Cycle Start" button, but the machine will not turn.

We know its a fairly old machine, but there has got to be a way around it.

The computer we are using is Mitsubishi Meldas L1.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank You.

Servo Motor Quiry (Speed inconsistancy)

Hi there,

Do anyone of you know the problem shown below:

1) When the joystick is used to control the motor at slow speed, one of the direction's speed is inconsistant, but the other direction's speed is consistant.

2) However, when the joystick is used to control the motor at high speed, the speed are constant in either direction.

Can you advice why is this so?

Thank you.

Fanuc 21i control M88 M89 MIDI change HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

on an Takisawa EX-108 Lathe
It has been a couple of years since we mounted the three jaw on the the lathe and now I need to change the signal that tell the control that the chuck is closed.  In my manual we have penciled in that M88 and M89 does this under MID.  I have tried it with the parameter write bit switched on and off.  I do not have the Fanuc 21i parameter manual.  I did not know one existed until yesterday and we can't get it here quick enough.  There is no manual switch to change as some have suggested.  I did this a couple of times when we first got the lathe but I am stumped now.  We are way behind on the job that we had promiced on monday.

Thank you

link from Mastercam to Okuma Howa CNC lathe

Recently my supervisor asked me to start CNC programming using Mastercam with a Okuma lathe with Fanuc 18 controller. I have 20 years experience with CNC programming with 3 axis milling using Fadals and Mori's, I have one year experience with 5-axis. One problem I need to resolve is at the beginning of the program the CNC machinist would like the tool changer to move at the back of the machine using G28 U0. W0. The next line he would like to have the tool move to the stock and this could change depending on the length of the stock in the chuck. The next line I believe should be G50 and the X and Z distance to the stock and the X and Z distance will change depending on the length of the stock. Could someone verify for me this is true? Our shop the CNC Machinist write G and M codes on the CNC Lathes and the supervisor would like to start programming using Mastercam - any suggestions would be appreciated and thank you

Z axis position is all screwed up. Fanuc 18M control. Supermax V56T

Hope someone out there can help.  I just bought my first VMC (a '95 YCI Supermax V56T) with a Fanuc 18M control.  I just fired it up for the first time a couple evenings ago.  I got an error code of "300" saying that Z axis wasn't zeroed.  I was able to jog all axes, and was able to zero the X, and Y.  I kept trying to zero Z axis, but it wouldn't.  Then I brought the Z axis down almost all the way to Z- Limit. And tried Z axis reference Position again.  It went up only about a half inch and it zeroed.  But now it's only a few inches above the table, and it thinks it's at Z home.  I look at the position page, and it says it's at Z zero, but it should be Z of minus 15 inches or so.  Like I said, it's almost all the way down to the table.  I can't jog the z axis up because it then alarms and says I've overtraveled Z+ (even though the Z is almost all the way down).  SOmehow it has lost it's machine Z zero, and now thinks that the z zero is nearly all the way down in the Z- direction.  Can anyone help?

Okuma LC40 Z Axis Bounce (1981) OSP 3000 Control

Have had numerous Okuma repair people out & they cannot cannot sort the problem. The z Axis alarms out in Rapid. During rapid the z axis will bounce backwards at stop(jumps anout 1"). Also does the same with the handwheel. Okuma replaced the encoder did not solve problem. Had motor checked & re magnatised still same. Drives checked out good. They have now said they do not know what to do after 8 weeks & a lot of money later we still have a none working machine. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. I will try anything at the moment it is killing our production.

ATC problem Hitachi Seiki VA35

When a T command is given the ATC starts indexing, but never stops.
When manually indexing with the Micon it is supposed to stop once the start button is release, but does not stop.
When Cancel is pressed on the Micon it does stop.

Does any one know which relay needs to be changed and where to get it?

All the best,

Andy

Problem with OSP3000 of Okuma LC-10

Hello,

I have problems with Okuma LC-10 OSP 3000 (1981) programming unit 7-segment display.

As you see on the picture link below on the left upper corner of the picture, 7-segments are not working : http://www.dynomec.com/okuma2.jpg

Here is another view inside unit : http://www.dynomec.com/okuma1.jpg

Schematics for 7-segment are here : http://www.dynomec.com/okuma3.jpg

A LOT of other files and pictures you may find from here : http://www.vauhtikauppa.com/Okuma.zip

Shortly the problem could be the display data latching failure.

So, if anyone have faced same problem, please tell what could be wrong or which part to replace?

Does anyone know where to get spareparts?

Does anyone have IF12 board electrical schematics or any ideas where to get?

IF12 board is located on main cabin and is a possible reason. Its serial number is : E4809-032-399-C

All advices very welcome, I would like to get Okuma back running again.

Harri

Mazak VQC ATC menu /APC menu not functioning

Mazak model is a VQC-15 series machine, Control is an M-32 and mits m335. I can not get the ATC menu /APC menu button to bring up any screens. This machine was bought used so not sure if it ever worked.  I have verified with a machine right next to it with the same control but different machine so I was able to compare the method and machine setting to access the screens. When I try pushing the buttons on this machine the LED does not light up at all. The X-address for that button comes on but no special screen appears. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Hitachi Seiki VG45 II Ram error on servos

Hello,
I have an Hitachi Seiki VG45 II with a Seicos MIII control. It powered up with three alarms related to the servos. ASV1A, B, & C, RAM ERROR. The NC doesn't appear to be talking to the SAMS and SASS boards. All green LED's on the NC boards, red LED's on the three servo boards. I did quite a few things to no avail before I erased the RAM and reinitialized the control. I got the ladder back into it using the YuYu, but I cannot feed the parameters back in by hand. I have three different methods to alter/insert parameters, none of which work. They seem pretty straight forward and coincide with what the operator say has worked in the past. I can find the screens and step through the operations, but I can't read the messages it gives me because the control is in Japanese. One message as near as I can translate is 'MDI MODE Initialize' even though I am in MDI and the screen says I am in MDI. I have tried several different combinations of the different methods and I haven't hit on the correct one yet. I don't see a parameter in the book to set the language, and I can't seem to change it if I knew what it was anyway. Are there DIP switches that need to be set on the boards? Do I have to do some special initialization process on the boards themselves? Are there special condidtions such as E-Stop, secret codes, two keys at a time, or other? By the way, after feeding the ladder back in, the machine comes up with the same error codes and conditions. I am told it has to be a software issue, but I am wondering if it is a hardware issue. Any thoughts?
Thanks for your time

Matsuura MAM72-63V w/Fanuc 30i- ATC pot home position parameter

I need to reset/adjust home position for where robot arm picks up T15. (HOME POSITION)Anyone know which power mate parameter to set? The book shows so many home positions its confusing which one is the actual robot transfer arm home parameter. I've aligned the arm to pot 15 which is "home" location pot. Now i just need the correct procedure to memorize the position. Any help would be appreciated. FANUC G-tech 30i 5-axis control.

X-Axis overtravel alarm

One of my guys didn't know how to use the Fanuc 20-T lathe so he started pushing buttons on the operator panel at random. When the travel took off he hit the emergency cut-off. Now we can't get the alarm to reset. It indicates an X-axis overtravel. The absolute position of the x-axis is .0001 and the Y-axis is .0058. How do I get it to move off the limit so I can use the machine? We are without an experienced operator so we are using the lathe in manual mode.

Y excess (stop) alarm on Toyoda w/Fanuc control

What a great site, wish I had found it years ago!

I recently purchased a Toyada HMC.  I had it pretty much up and running, but found a relay that was disconnected.  I pushed the relay back in and received a "Y excess (stop)" alarm.  The head started moving in the Y+ direction before the alarm.  I pulled the relay back out and the alarm went away, until I tried to move the Y axis, at which time I got a "Y excess (move) alarm.  Tried swapping the X and Y drives, but I still get the alarm in Y.  Any clues out there?

Thanks in advance

Stepper Motor Torqueless after 15 minutes of running in cmm machine

Hi,

My machine is a CMM type. This machine (it is driven by 3 axes- 5 phase stepper motors) has been running for 2 years and is fine. However, recently, some problems occur:

1) Stepper motor loss torque after machine running for 15 minutes. When using multimeter to test for voltage at the power supply (this power supply is used to provide power for the 3 stepper drivers), the voltage dropped to very low value.

2) When the motor/s is/are taken out (dismount from the machine) to rotate manually, rough rotation can be felt (unlike new stepper motor, is very smooth when rotates).

Therefore, I believe that there is some problem with the driver/ motor, that caused excessive current being drawn from the power supply. This may result voltage drop in the power supply and caused the motor to lost torque.

I'm not sure whether this assumption is correct. Please advice what will be the problem and how to solve it. Thank you!

Best Regards,

Help! Dnc problem with Mitsubishi Meldas 520AM

Dear or Madam

Our CNC machine controller is Mitsubishi Meldas 520am(very old), PC operation system is Windows XP. RS232 connection: CNC Machine---25pin---25 pin---converter---9pin---PC.

I have no problem to send very very small NC programs to CNC machine using ConnectCNC.( Using Xon/Xoff flow control, baud rate 4800, data bits:7, stop bits:2, parity: even). Since the memory at machine side is very small (less than 100k), I try to use DNC, but don't succeed, with error "P460 TAPE I/O ERROR". ConnectCNC does not seem to care about whether the CNC machine is ready for receiving or not, and it just sends the NC program after the SEND button is pressed. It never waits for a Xon singal.

The funning thing is that the machine can't receive a small NC program when I use " Wait  for Xon" function in other software  such as Cimco edit (same settings as ConnectCNC on both PC and machine sides).

so my stupid questions are:
Is the Meldas 520 using the same port for data receiving and sending?(There is only one port on machine).
Which handshake is better for this old machine( Xon/Xoff or hardware handshake or no handshake)?

Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Fanuc SP230 Power up issue

We have a Fanuc SP230 controller operating our Hatachi EDM. We had an issue when powering up the controller sometimes it would take many tries to get the controller to stay on. Now it wont start at all. All power supplies seem to be fine. You can see the relay that powers up when you press the start button but then it releases seconds afterwards. If you have some advise it would be appreciated. I would also be willing to pay for a repair manual or schematic.

gundrill

my work has just bought a 60 year old boring mill retrofitted with a gun drill... three weeks of lagging it down.. levelling and trying to get the machine within .010" tolerance for water and much better for guide pins.. i have up until this point gotten no better then .020" up and down witht the error occuring in the southern direction... .020" negative at the most extended point which is 18" from the start point.. my question is the whip guides and nose cone have up to .030" a side and the operator is saying that this is an industry norm... also he is feeding in at about 1.5" per minute... should he start out much slower and how fast should he be feeding a .5" drill through steel.. appreciate any help available as i have years of cnc machine experience and little in the way of gundrill experience.. thanks Rob
